A Note from the Webmaster
I love it when things just seem to work out. As webmaster, updating our Chapter website has been on my "To Do" list for a number of years. Health issues, lots of new grandbabies and quilts to make for them, and "life" has gotten in the way of giving our Chapter website a more modern look. Recently, my host server recommended upgrading the program I was using for designing the site as some of the features I was using have been replaced with better technology. And this all came together right at the time we have a new Chapter member who is willing to take on serving as Chairperson. Mark Wilson and his wife, Ida, are both highly motivated and eager to revitalize Chapter activity and work on putting into place much more MG awareness throughout our Chapter area!
Those of us who stepped up and committed to invigorate the Chapter back in 1999 are thrilled to have someone whose ready to take the baton that we are ready to pass on as many of our board members aren't getting any younger and health issues are always challenging. Coleen and I have passed the Chairperson baton back and forth for all these years while also serving as support group leaders, fundraising chairpersons, webmaster, and any thing else that needed to be done. We, of course, will remain very active in the Chapter, but it will be nice to have someone new in the leadership role. As the steadfast rock of our Board and an outstanding Treasurer, Marvin is staying the course in spite of his own recent health issues. And then there's Patsy, our Secretary. She has been such a blessing to work with and keeps our board meetings right on course though we drive her crazy at times. And I can't say enough about all of the Board Members, some whom have come and gone, some who are still serving, and all of whom have always been willing and eager to help through these many years!
So, all things said, it seemed like a perfect time to give the website a "face-lift"! The perfect timing of all of these happenings was confirmed as I was re-reading Melba's Story and pulled out our Charters to add to the website as Mark had expressed an interest in the Chapter's history. I discovered that we are at a milestone as a Chapter. It has been a long time since any of us had thought much about history, but we are once again making history as I'm sure the Northwest Texas Chapter is still the oldest, remaining active Chapter in the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. Happy 55th Anniversary!
It is my hope that you enjoy the new look of the website and all the history that will be added over the coming year. Lots of scanning and designing to do to get it all on the website, but a worthwhile endeavor that will be on display hopefully for the next 55 years!
