REPORT ON THE 2009 ANNUAL MEETING

Hello to all our MG Family and Friends,
Patsy Colquitt and I had the privilege of representing the NWTC-MGFA at the annual meeting in May, held at Charlotte, North Carolina, beautiful city, and we were so fortunate to have had the company of Patsy's sister and brother-in-law.
We had the opportunity to meet and visit with the new management company, and met several new mg patients. It was great to visit with Ashley, Miguel, & Javier Bermeo. The twins were diagnosed at age of l8 months. They are growing so fast, and Miguel is in remission, and hopefully Javier will soon follow. They are exceptional young boys, and a joy to be around. As most of you know the NWTC has followed these boys very closely. Makes us "mature" mg patients realize how blessed we are. Ashley is our contact for all mother & fathers who contact the NWTC seeking info for their newly diagnosed mg child.
June is national Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month. Chapters across our nation are having walk-a-thons, golf tournaments, sit-a-thons, and various fund raisers. Our chapter NWTC is the oldest chapter in the national organization. Several chapters have chosen to discontinue their association with the National Organization. We have made the decision to continue to be associated with National.
Some of you many not realize our chapter sends information "packets" of literature to all newly diagnosed mg patients and their families. We visit with patients, families, and social workers all over the United States. We have no paid staff, we volunteer all our time and supplies.
THE THEME THIS YEAR IS ''UNITING FOR A CURE''. As most of you are aware there is no cure, we treat the symptoms.
This past year has been very trying for Marvin and myself. Some of you may not realize Marvin lost his wife in February. My husband Don passed away in October. Don was so instrumental in all of our past fund raisers.
We appreciate all your support in the past years, and again this year we will not be having a fund raiser. We are asking for your "tax deduction" donations, if possible.
Sincerely yours,
Coleen Shinn Chairperson NWTC-MGFA
